Great suggestions - especially the last!

Reading poetry and hearing it read well are (for me) two very different things. Even my own poetry can sound better when others read it! "Bright Star" sounds intriguing if only for that part in the closing credits, but yes, for all the rest, too.

Perhaps its most shivering attribute is foreshadowing?

Must one live in NYC to have access to all of these films?? But I digress. I now look forward to learning more about this film and about Asperger’s Syndrome.

What a great memory to have of Whitney Houston, and how well you place it into context. The music industry is brutal, and for her to be continuing in any real capacity is a tribute to her character and talent, and perhaps to having a good agent?? Anyway, I really enjoyed this article.

Admittedly, I hadn't even heard of this movie until this article, but my husband has served a total of 26 months in most of the various and extreme conditions in Iraq. Having heard some of his real stories as compared with what the news and entertainment industries portray, and seeing the poitical and business influences behind them, it's hard for me to view any such movie objectively. The reason I read beyond the title of this article (obviously, the "soldier" part caught my eye since such is my husband) is the way you handled the topic, as an interview with someone who knows both the movie and Iraq. Truly, this was the best way to review this topic.

As an army wife, one who can read a lot into this interview (and inexplicably is now getting very misty-eyed and choked up as a result) I thank you for your handling of this subject.

I loved this movie for many reasons, mostly for Meryl Streep's spot-on portrayal of Julia. My mother and I used to watch Julia on PBS, a show that "almost" made me want to be a cook (cooking is NOT my favorite passtime). In the movie, I can relate to Julie's desire to cook all the recipe's, but her obsession about them seems almost counter-productive, whereas Julia's "obsession" seemed to enhance not only her life but those of everyone around her. Julia earned her accolades rather than having anything simply given to her (well, having a husband assigned to a sweet position in France isn't bad).

Oh, and this isn't a "chick flick" despite being very woman-focused - even my husband (even less of a cook, unless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches count) really liked it!

While it may have been more "Hollywood" like the classic "biographical movies" of the golden age of movies, maybe it was enough to give tribute to a pivotal event and to introduce a new generation to it. At least it gave more flesh to the idea of "Woodstock" and what it meant. (No, I haven't seen the movie, precisely because I wanted more of a pure documentary flim, as I've seen before.)

I've read and watched a few short biographies about Swayze, and you sum them up well by comparing him to Astaire and Kelly, perhaps with a dash of James Dean or other "spicier" element. Good article - neither sugary nor flat, just very human and real as he was.

My only comment - you make it sound so appealing that I wish I could go. (Sigh) I can always hope the show runs longer.
