Looks like Nancy Pelosi was right about the CIA lying to Congress. Congress needs to push back against the executive power grab.
Chances are we will not hear a peep from those who skewered Pelosi for raising this issue several weeks ago. As a democracy we must respect the rule of law. Respect for the rule of law is among the greatest assets of our democracy. I hope those from all parts of the political spectrum will agree with me and I hope President Obama will reverse the previous administration's policy of consolidating executive power. The system of checks and balances among the three branches of govt. must be preserved, with criminal prosecutions if necessary. I wonder where Cheney was during this... my guess is that he was mixed up right in the middle of it.
You mean like the "drug czar?"
Whiney Republicans: You had your chance and really screwed things up. Did you see that thing about how the SEC botched the Madoff investigation, twice? You see it really does matter who's in charge. You can't just appoint somebody's college roommate to an important job and expect it to get done right, ie. Brownie. Obama has appointed capable people to key positions, now lets see if they can get the policies right and start dealing with some of the problems our society has ignored for too long. That is all. Now back to whichever lying hypocrite is sending out today's conservative talking points.
Good thing we took out Iran's natural enemy in the region. Now let's have more saber rattling and less diplomacy.
Agreed... I like our gay marriages and decriminalized marijuana and I don't mind spending tax money to help homeless children... now all the no-work city and state jobs are another matter...
The Gateway Inn in Cambridge is no paradise but its not a FEMA camp either
We're very happy here with our gay marriages and decriminalized marijuana. Our real problem is no-work city and state jobs for political patrons but I don't mind spending my tax dollars on homeless children one bit. The Gateway Inn in Cambridge is hardly paradise. You can have Bush and the Alamo and become a separate country again as far as I'm concerned.
You're describing the current situation. Companies do not offer health care to workers, esp. low paying service industry jobs, these people get sick, wait until they're really sick, go to the ER and get treatment (as long as condition is life threatening), and their care is paid for out of the free care pool which is funded by a tax we already pay on health care. Wouldn't it be better if they could just go to a primary care doctor or nurse practitioner in the first place?
why would people choose a govt run plan if its so poorly run then? If private plans are better they will prevail in the marketplace.
