i think that a lot of our hitters are always thinking of homeruns when a single will do to drive in one or two runs.
This was the second biggest problem the last two years behind the bullpen but everyone chose to ignore the facts. This lineup scores 10 runs in one game and then 1 or 2 runs the next 4 or 5 games. I dont know how to fix it but they have to do something or this year will once again slip away.
this team is just cursed with RISP, they cant score a run to save their lives.
yes they can take the division the way they are built now IF they hit with RISP(havent done well in this category in a couple of years) and they get another solid starter who pitches deep into games. Ollie and Maine are not consistent enough to rely on from start to start.
hopefully they can add another solid starter later on and hopefully these guys figure out how to hit with RISP. If these things happen, i think they can take the division. LGM
The problem has been hitting with RISP and this has been going on since the '06 playoffs. The Padres just hit singles and doubles and took the ball the other way to score their runs but the Mets seem to only hit the homerun most of the time. We have too many guys trying to get back in the game with one swing and not enough small ball thinking. Also, Maine should be looked at as another Ollie and nothing more. The Mets absolutely need another reliable pitcher that eats innings and is consistent from start to start.
" game 1 is just as good as 101 or 121 or 161." lol, i was stating this fact before but the polyannas dont want to hear about facts like this. Also, hitting with RISP is very important ,and this team is horrible at leaving runners stranded.
"We're going to lose 65 games this year, deal with it." LOL, probably closer to 75-80 losses with this crap rotation and pop gun offense. I will be surprised if they finish higher than 3rd, they needed to do a lot more than fix the pen. This years pen will be just as ineffective and overworked with 5 inning starting rotation we have.
lol, when you have an inconsistent offense and 1 good solid starter, what else can you expect??
