Hi Michael,

You are correct about the hierarchy.

Factorial design is not better or worse than MVT. Multi-variate testing requires more variations than Factorial Design. Traffic will need to be split between each variation, so there will be less traffic per variation. The amount of time it will take for your experiment to reach statistical significance will take longer. If you don’t have a lot of traffic, factorial design is a better approach to take because you will get the same results with less traffic, and in a shorter period of time.

Chris recently presented at the Conversions@Google Summit in Dublin on responsive design and using CRO to improve your mobile strategy. Keep your eyes peels on the blog because Chris will post some of the insights I talked about at the conference and more in the next couple months.

A good practice is to leave tests running at least a week (even if you achieve statistical significance before then). Each day of the week invokes different behaviours from users, you should account for these in your testing.

If I were you I would check whether an immediate signup is counted as a bounce, Mike. If the form and "thank you" message are embedded on the page, it might be. If the "thank you" message is on a separate page, it might not.
