Hewitt's a plainly fair guy. This is gonna hurt (the left). Drawing a line in the sand is good for the republican party. If both parties are mushy, more people are going to be drawn to the left. Hugh endeavors to keep this from happening. I think it works.

Unfortunately, some on the right are trying to marginalize Palin with this incident. The comments are often subtle (e.g. Pawlenty: “It wouldn’t have been my style to put the crosshairs on there".) True conservatives defend Palin 100%. But that, of course, doesn't mean a true conservative has to vote for Palin.
