Celebrities, businesses and social media professionals are all in it for different reasons. It's like everyone in the house goes for a different section of the Sunday paper: politics, news, classifieds, funnies, coupons, etc.
In a way, having a high # of followers = # of direct mail postcards sent. How many actually respond to the message, or bring the postcards in to redeem the special offer? :)
Thank you for compiling this list! It was a challenge to find industry professionals on Twitter when I started the @BenBridgeGirl account. Now newcomers will have this great guide! Michael, thank you for continuing to be such a wonderful source of information and support for all of us!
I had to chuckle, knowingly. :D We're dealing with some of this now because he has decided to simply ignore assignments that he didn't enjoy. (And really, some of those assignments are pretty silly.) So I found myself teaching my son about "you gotta do what you gotta do" in life. It's not one of my favorite lessons though.
Thanks for this post and the reminders, Mike. There have been many nights when my brain is in the condition of a mostly melted scoop of vanilla ice cream, and all I can do is nod when my son's talking to me. A lot of parents have trouble getting their kids to talk, and here I am, wasting great opportunities to connect with my son...
Side note: I love that "family" is the biggest word in your tag cloud. :)
You're definitely on the right track. It's important to stay interested in and connected to each other, as well as maintaining/respecting solitude. Rainer Maria Rilke had a lot of good things to say about that. :)
