Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Please examine your premises. American movie goers are not the stupid sheep Hollywood and you believe them to be.
I watched the Girl With movies from Sweden and they are just flat out bad. Why? Acting is bad, pacing is off, cutting is boring, very low quality all the way around. The same is true of most foreign films, they just seem to be filmed on someones IPhone. The reason I believe the movie did not do that well here is pretty obvious- it is rated R and opened during the holidays. Not a family film, and also grim. I loved it-it was exactly like the book- but why release during the holiday?
Popcorn prices? Really?
Movies are not bad because they are too "slick" as foreign movie enthusiasts wrongly opine. Most movies are bad because they wander and the director seems unclear as to the point of the movie. If he doesn't know, how should the audience? Have a point, make it, and cut out the rest!

For all the %99 who view the world as a pie that some people took more than their share of -here is a mind experiment. Close your eyes and go back to the Middle Ages. You are part of the %1 now- a King or Queen . What things do you have? No car, no air conditioning, no central heating,no laptop, no ipod, no tv, no cable, no starbucks.
Now , back to today. So many more people on Earth, so if there is a "pie", we should each have a far smaller piece. Yet most people have far more material possesions than a King of the past. Strange-where did all this extra pie come from?

Private colleges all will tell you that if your parents make less than 75,000$ a year, college is free. Where does this magic money come from? Also, these are not student s who will have a real world experience of value for their dollar when they pay nothing. Of course they graduate feeling entitled to a high paying job with little work, which the unions provide.

The argument for GW is the same-GW eftfects are imminent and we only have days or weeks to change our carbon habits before certain doom. And this has been going on for years! Should we not have long since past the ever threatened ' tipping point" ? Why have we not yet been swallowed by the sea?
