if you have access to a windows machine try using snowbreeze in ifaith mode.

check when your iphone has been backed-up recently.you can view them in
view->preferences->devices.If you have a recent one you might atleast have some part of your data.

If it is an AT&T iPhone consider buying an unlock as it is relatively cheap right now and it will save a lot of hassle for you!

Apparently No ;) . If it is a hardware problem you need to exchange it because having a functional ipad gets the higher priority and the second reason is a jailbreak will eventually come out (We hope so)
