Where did you hear there is mold or mildew in the building? They tore out all of the material that could mold immediately after the flood, and have been maintaining the temperature in the building to prevent mold (and freeze/thaw damage) for the past 2+ years.

Lets say they spend $10 million to fix Hilton (I don't think it will be nearly that much). It would likely cost well over $100 million to build a comparable new facility. So yeah, I'm ok with repairing a building every so often.

Just because it's "eligible" doesn't mean it needs to be replaced.

Repair of the existing facility and flood mitigation at the site has always been one of FEMA's options for the Hancher complex, it's just that the university WANTS a new one.

You're right, they are doing more than just cleaning Hilton. They are actually fixing some of the damage as well in order to return a perfectly fine building into service. That helps your argument how?

Link to report showing significant damage?

Why is it ok that the state just power washes Hilton in Ames after it floods every 20 years or so, but yet we need a new $190 million Hancher in Iowa City because it flooded once?

Put a flood wall around it and continue to use it. Save the taxpayers some money (yes, FEMA money is taxpayer money too).

This man has failed 3 times to gain his party's nomination for governor. He's a small businessman from NW Iowa. Why does he continue to get the media's attention? Republicans have decided they are done with this man, when will the media do the same?

Keep in mind Iowa struggled with UNI and Indiana last year, and got beat by Northwestern. Those teams aren't so different than the better teams of the WAC.

I would imagine the "carrying an unknown object into the administration building" had something to do with that.
