That is a fantastic find on the GPS, not to mention the saddlebags! I'm with you, I want a GPS, but can't convince myself to fork over the money for one, maybe I'll find a great deal some day like you did!

I'll have to keep my eyes open for a swap meet like this in Ohio, I'm sure they exist, but I can't recall seeing info for one anywhere.

Glad all turned out OK, hope you get over the ick quickly! I like the visor squeegee project! I usually try and wipe my visor with my gloves, which doesn't work and leaves me with damp hands. Do you do PayPal? For $5 I'd support your project and buy one!

I have checked into Deals Gap, sounds like a great ride, but have not planned anything yet. Have you ridden it? How far is it from you?

Yes!! I think we need to just look at a calendar and come up with a few options, I'd love to meet in VA and camp out for a weekend.

I'll drop you an e-mail.

I can't wait until I am no longer on-call, but sadly, it is not in the near future.

I am seriously considering an EEEPC or a Dell Mini for this very purpose, I'm actually trying to get work to provide the Dell Mini for me, that with my broadband card would give me a fair amount of freedom. Glad to hear you are an Debian fan, I have been a Ubuntu user since it was first released and have never looked back.

Not sure I'm ready for a side-car just yet, but I do think I am going to trade up to a 1100 or bigger sport touring bike next year so that my wife can come along with me on some rides. The Shadow 750 is just not cut out for 2 up riding when 1 of the riders is as big as I am!

So, where is your ride map? I see almost all the examples have the same states, so I was thinking it may your map? I looked on your site and don't see one.

I hope to be able to add a few more states to my map this year! http://www.knisely.org/?page_id=543

I was also unable to get the 4th site to embed in my Wordpress site.

I see this one used a lot on other blogs (http://douweosinga.com/projects/visited?region=us...

Thanks for the information!

After commuting nearly every day between May and October (50 miles round trip) it did feel somewhat good to get back in my truck. That didn't last too long, then I was lusting after a ride, but the cold temps, lack of gear and all that snow kept me off my bike until March!

Riding can be like anything else we do; do it too much and you can get burned out. I have decided this year to take more trips, find some people to ride with and turn my riding into more than just commuting. My Google calendar is already filling up with events and my wife is wondering if she'll see me at all this summer and if I'll ever get to any items on my honey do list!

Very comfortable so far. I agree, I'd like some of the features as well, but then again, we'd be paying $300, and while I'm sure they are worth it, I just can't spend that on boots right now.

I have treated them to be water resistant, I hope these work out for me.

Thanks! I hope to get it back this week, it's coming up on 3 weeks and with the nice weather we have I am really missing the bike! Why, or why did I not take the tank to the painter in December, January...!!
