These servicemen are sons of America just like the guy who is delivering the milk to Safeway this morning. If you don't like my terminology, for goodness sake... ignore it or call it stupid and move on. As for my "supporting the troops"? I support the "people". I support their families. And yeah, it's genuine. As I previously stated, I've voiced no support for the continuing war in Afghanistan. I agree with you. It's an awful situation. I do have a military background, but I've no interest in talking about it here to you or anyone else. The people in my life know about it. That's enough. Besides, neither that, nor my public service now gives me any more right to an opinion than any other resident of this planet. You've read me completely wrong, but in the end, that doesn't matter. How you read me isn't important. What matters to me is that I show respect to the families of these servicemen and that I teach my children to do the same. These families lost their children, their siblings, their spouses, believing they were serving their nation. Regardless of whether the war was a just cause, these families find some minute sense of comfort in believing that their sons at least died for a belief. A belief that they were defending something more noble. Is it really so important to you to take that from them? I'm not supporting the war Pegasus, nor "the troops"... just these people and their families. I'm sorry if you don't appreciate, or understand that. For the record, I erased my earlier posts because I insulted you. There was really no point or advantage in doing so and I apologize for it.

The Republicans regularly throw a staffer or 10 under the bus, having them make outlandish statements to stir all the bigots, homophobes, and (insert your redneck hater here) so they'll stamp their feet and vote republican instead of staying home and drinking cheap beer, or worse... actually coming up with a 3rd party candidate who actually did voice their beliefs. Then the Republicans make a quick insincere apology, fire said staffer, and line up another staffer as the next sacrificial lamb.
