Jennifer: See this article for information on Foster Farms, where Costco gets its chicken products: http://www.costcoconnection.com/connection/201007...
Seems like they do pretty well.

Good points, Jen! People seem to forget that, whatever the medium (online or hold-in-your-hand newspaper), someone has to generate the content and, as you've noted, who generates it and what they consider their job to be is important in establishing credibility. The other thing, sadly, is that people really don't like stories that challenge their prejudices, so they'll tune in to FOX or MSNBC to reinforce what they already think and they'll cancel their D-H subscription because something in it either challenges those preconceptions or doesn't sufficiently reinforce them.

So, is there a D-H Furlough Fund two which readers are invited to donate? :-)

And I would never think of you as a cow.... ;-)

It is amazing how much we spend when we just have to swipe that little plastic card. I applaud you for your Lenten discipline...and also for buying those Girl Scout cookies. :-)

Very cool, Jennifer! Sounds like she's ready for the "older kids" group. Or, perhaps, for the pulpit! <GRIN>

Because Sundays are feast days that override everything else. We don't forget about the resurrection during Lent, so Sundays you get a sabbath from even Lenten sacrifices. That means, by the way, that those Girl Scout cookies you bought recently (you _did_ buy some didn't you? There's still time!) are OK to eat on Sunday. I wouldn't eat the whole box, but... :-)

Regarding French Fries: Consulting the all-knowing Wikipedia article, I read "The phrase means potatoes fried in the French sense of the verb "to cook", which can mean either sautéing or deep-grease frying." This, of course, makes the re-naming to "freedom fries" absolutely ridiculous. In other words, french fries have nothing to do with the country.
