I get a kick out of this, every post is in agreement that there is something fishy going on with this move. However most, not all, of the ratings are negative...what does that tell you? Pro "new location" library people, city officials, etc if you have something to say say it. Or is it that you can't defend your actions? King Corbett and his court.

Great opportunity for kids to learn hands on, instead of just all book learning. I think it's great the way they thought ahead on all the green stuff. Good Luck Kirkwood you are a great place and really serve a purpose in the community.

People will never learn. Material things will not make you happy in the long run, just momentary satisfaction.
Gas will continue to climb, housing will fall off the cliff now that the home buyer money has ended, unemployment rate at 10% (with underemployed and people who have given up closer to 20%) may not go higher but I don't see it going lower anytime soon, record deficits. I think we are about to see the double dip in the stock market take place and a very slow recovery from that.
I know doom and gloom. But the prudent person will always be able to weather a storm like this.There are always certain jobs that are in demand.
People stop over spending, what good has it done you really? Just causes you more heart ache in the end, with all the worry. Alright I'll stop preaching.

I don't even know what to say I'm so disgusted with the whole situation, Just disgusted. Not that they care but, at least, there is a small group of us that haven't been fooled by all this back room crap. King Corbett and court, you're not half as clever as you think.

I had two sister in laws that lost everything (and I mean everything) water was up to their ceilings. So I understand the devastation. (I worked plenty of hours cleaning and moving and filing paperwork and meeting city officials, etc for them) But something that happened two years ago doesn't give him, or anyone, the right to just ignore everything and then blame everyone else for his problems.
I'm all for helping a guy out, I really am. But at some time they have to start taking responsibility again.

I know I'll get a bunch of negatives for this but here goes. The guy had how long to get his boat out but he didn't. Of course he had an excuse. The contract clearly (according to the story) states that any property left behind is considered abandoned. (paraphrasing) But he only skimmed it, it's not his fault that he didn't read it. Then Taube agrees to "sell" it back to him for 1/4 the value but he doesn't want to pay them for any work they did. (salvaging, cleaning hauling, etc) This guy made one mistake after another, for whatever reason, and now doesn't want to be held accountable for those mistakes. Another case of someone wanting to blame someone else for their own mistakes/laziness.
Disclaimer, for what it's worth, I have absolutely no affiliation with the demolition company.
Let the slamming begin.

Come on Firstfleeter you don't know he was driving in an unsafe manner. That is pure speculation on your part. Remember the young man's family may be reading these comments.

@Tom
I'm not pleading Prossers case,I think he made some bad decision, (hiring all of these consultants mainly) just saying that I think he did what he was hired to do and tried his best. Maybe his best wasn't good enough.

As to Corbett's argument that Prosser isn't an elected official, well of course he isn't. That is because the people of CR voted for a change of government that made that position a professional position. Corbett may not like it this way but as an elected official he should respect it.
Now he'll hire (or twist enough arms to get the council to hire) a person that is nothing more than a yes man. So he gets want he wants. But why do you think the people voted to change the type of government to the present one? So by default Corbett will be changing the structure of government back to the old system that the people of CR voted out.

Personally I thought the old way was better and never liked the idea of a city manager. And Corbett may be the best guy in the world. But the people voted for the manager system and the will of the people should be respected. But paying some yes man puppet (which is what I predict will happen) is subverting the will of the people to Corbett's own will and that is wrong. Time will tell if I'm right or not.

Put me down for a $100.00! Seriously though if the fares are reasonable I think it's a good idea. No hassles or cost of parking. No stopping for tolls and gas, sit back relax and read a book. Lets hope this works!
