I have a lot of similar feelings as to my wife below... but I think he should have the faces of those he was responsible for killing tattooed on his forehead or, somewhere he has to see regularly. His chest, or something.

It is all about sensationalism. Period. If you are interested in this phenom there was an article last week in boingboing.net about how people in Oregon believe crime rates are higher because of the way news is now reported. It should be just read about HEY kid killed by idiot... idiot beat to death... No, I don't really feel that way but sometimes it is rather ticks me off when kids get hurt.

.... I don't have anything to hide, and I have had this and several other bad incounters with the law. So, if I hadn't been working with them and had friends on the force I would probably hate all cops because of the actions of a few.
That isn't saying it is right. I work hard not to lump people together and go out of my way to do that. The average American is more than likely to just lump people together because it takes effort and energy to really look around.

It is unfortunate that some people can be tarnished by a few bad apples. I don't like the fact, but it is what it is. It is like police officers. I have worked closely with them, went to school to become one before I was in a car accident. I have had a few very bad experiences with police around here. If I had not worked with them? Well that would be my ONLY impression of them. How would I see them otherwise? By having two officers pull guns on me? By profiling me (Which remind me to tell you about that girl cop and her "ideas" of a racist... cause she stopped me for being a skin head racist who just commited a crime many blocks over... while I was taking a walk with my black roomate...) pulling guns on me, busting into my house without a warrant (that cop actually was forced to come out and make an appology, and ask if we wanted to press charges)... They say if you have nothing to fear or hide than you never have to worry. I can attest that kind of thinking is irronious...

People's cynicism? Really? Don't you think it might be predicated on experience? Don't get me wrong, I KNOW there are a lot of good people who work for the city. I have family that works for the city. I know their friends who work hard to. (continued since the system told me to break it up some)

I think this pretty much supports my theory though. Since there is nothing to thumb down on my post. I would say we have an infestation of Trolls. That's alright though, since I only pop in every great once in awhile it doesn't effect me.

They cannot explain themselves. They are trolls who just don't like or understand people. Don't let it affect your day. Just take a deep breath and remember, I thumbed you up because you look great even in sweats ;-)

On a serious note though, I also heard that the street yellow, with the reflective pieces that usually go on roads was in serious demand. There was even several articles about it late last year. The manufacturer of the specialized paint figured with the economic downturn that it wouldn't be ordered as much. The revitalization of the roads has seriously screwed that thought up though, now they have been caught with their pants down. I feel sorry for the people who make the paint in some really serious ways though.. they had shipped thousands and thousands of gallons of the stuff on usually good account credit just to have people not pay them. I am not saying one way or the other my personal feelings on the matter. I wonder if that hubub in WI will also stop payment on things they bought and already recieved?

Get a grip you know nothing of statistics. Actually the number one deterrent of break ins and theft is actually a bright light. Seriously, talk to anyone in the police department, anyone in Neighborhood Watch or anyone in the insurance industry. Stop spouting your almighty knowledge and how stupid people are for carrying guns when your statistics and your "dogs stop more... blah blah" are wrong.

I think this is a good jumping in spot. First response is to Winterprism (great name by the way)... That is exactly my fear too. I am sure that as soon as they regulate marijuana they will start adding additional chemicals to make it seem fresher with long shipping times... and various other reasons. Those chemicals will be horrible and be carcinogenic. It will be in the name of making a better product but it will have the side benefit of being chemical dependency to create a properly steady revenue stream. That my friends is capitalism and good ol' American ingenuity at it's best (that was sarcasm BTW)!

As for the actual article... It is a silly theme that doesn't hurt anyone. There is so much more on T.V. about drugs, sex.. this is just a joke and good food. I like both.
