In my experience, The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes & Posner, has been the bible of leadership development and insight. I have read all four releases of this book and found both the research and application to be very sound. It is the first book I recommend to my aspiring leaders and one that I try to put into the hands of those who are in positions of leadership over me.

The last one is so important: Solve problems. A leader's greatest job security is the ability to solve problems. If you are known as the problem solver in your organization, you will be become indispensable.

Wait? I didn't see "has a position of power and authority" in the list? Perhaps that's because this list is accessible to anyone and everyone who desires to be a leader no matter where they're at in their organization or community. Thanks for taking the time to expand on each of these influential characteristics. It's nice to know you don't have to be the CEO to be a leader (although all CEOs will benefit from a list like this).

This is an excellent blog...an excellent post/interview. In each arena (on his blog, in seminars, on twitter, etc) I find Michael Hyatt to be consistently humble and a lead-by-example kind of guy. Thanks for providing another snapshot of this - chocked full of good wisdom.

Thanks Phil. I'm trying to learn some of the in's and out's of Wordpress. I love this system. But I'm not a coder. The folks that put together Standard Theme have been amazing with their support.

So glad to hear that my story is encouraging your own story. You won't be disappointed. As I say above, this thing is a "mountain to climb." But you will be better for the challenge and learn some things about yourself through the process. Plus you'll look and feel better than ever.

As for my recovery drink, I put the following two supplements in a water bottle with a few cubes of ice and shake it all together in a great tasting formula...

a) VPX Sports No SyntheSize - Watermelon flavored (check it out here - http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/vpx/synthesize.... )

b) Max Gluta-Matrix (read about it here - http://www.maxmuscle.com/shopmax/item/175/)

I drink the recovery drink everytime I work out. The canisters last me about a month. Hope that helps!

Blair! Great to hear you've started P90X. Now you've got to finish it! With the nutrition side, I went with the portion guide. I didn't have time to prepare all of the meals they suggest. But I did use their list of foods from each section to determine what I SHOULD be eating. Try to maintain the right balance of protein/carbs. Get protein bars (I bought Clif) for your snacks. And just don't eat any sweets or drink soda. You'll be amazed at the difference eating right does for you during this thing.

I would also recommend taking some pics and doing the fitness test. Even if you've already started. It's the results that I could "measurably" see that have kept me going in Round 2!

Let's keep in touch and keep each other motivated. Keep pushing play!!

Thank you for the comment Greg. I hope you find the idea of a to-day list helpful. I've discovered that over a period of time (like 30-90 days), a to-day list becomes something much more significant -- a habit!

Hi Chad.
Thanks for the comment and advice. At present, I'm not a Beachbody coach. Not sure if I'm going to sign up for that. Glad you stopped by.

Thanks Brad. Great idea. I've been looking at P90X Plus and thinking about how I can incorporate it in. I like how you put it - "Round One" - that's the way I feel. I'm looking forward to hitting it again.
