Singing songs that are spontaneous in worship is very Biblical. I personally believe the American church has watered the Word of God when it comes to how we worship. For instance in Luke chapter 8 Jesus tells us that He speaks in parables so that everyone doesn't understand....only those who are truly seeking. We, the American church, spend so much time making sure everything is comfortable for the unbeliever that we miss great opportunities in worship to really intimately go after God. The post-modern term is Seeker Friendly.

Worship is not to be misunderstood for anything but an act of total surrender, adoration, and intimacy with our Savior, Jesus Christ. It's not some cool song with an awesome light show......that's entertainment or an event. And yes, those do attract non-believers. I'm not dissing that, I just don't want to be part of the generation that learns how to make Jesus so cool and easy to follow that we drop convictions and forget about the fear of God and only focus on grace.

So now to my point, Free Worship, Spontaneous Worship, Singing a new song is a commandment of the believer and spoke of very often in the new and old testament.
