Critics bashed Battleship the same way they bashed Transformers. Critics aren't the reason it hasn't taken off domestically. Lack of hype and the stigma of being a Transformers and Battle: Los Angeles ripoff based on the TV spots and trailers are what's hurting it most.

First, thanks for the intellectual discussion, Scott. Notice I didn't say "argument."

I completely understand that films go in front of test audiences, often times with alternate scenes or endings. And I also understand that sometimes - though not always - those testings result in last minute creative changes.

Are we assuming that BioWare didn't seek any outside input on the ending to the game? I don't think either of us can conclusively prove the answer to that one way or the other unless BioWare speaks up about it.

Ultimately there's a lot of opinion involved on both sides of the fence here. I'm sure Jon could whip up an essay to defend his opinion, as I'm sure you can to defend yours. Hell, your knowledge of film and games makes you a perfect fit for here.

I have NOT played Mass Effect 3 and am only commenting on the general tone of the comments on this review. Someone called Jon's opinion wrong, which effectively negates the definition of an opinion. There would be no Internet or reviews without opinions. That's why I always look at more than one review.

I'm baffled by the sense of entitlement many of you have to a different ending. How many times have you watched a movie or played a game and didn't agree with the ending? Just because you don't like the creative direction chosen doesn't mean you deserve the one - in your opinion - should be delivered. It's BioWare's world. We only play in it.

All indications are Channing Tatum will be eliminated in the film's first act.
