I believe it's asinine to think that any one living today could affect what happened 150 years ago.

Nor should they be held accountable. Tens of thousands of white people died to end slavery. By that definition blacks should thank the white people every day for saving them from slavery.
And to top it all off it was the muslims who were capturing the blacks and selling them in Africa to ANYONE who would buy them. Most of the slaves went to countries in South America.
