I'll bet you 9 to 1 that the driver in front of her...was rubber necking. Just to see what the cop was doing. That type of a driver is just as dangerous. For those that like to see what the cop is doing, pull over to the side of the road and watch, rather than coming almost to a stop or 30 to 40 mph slower than the posted speed limit.

Explain how you can have a roof over your head with a minimum wage and part time at McDonalds?? Even if you found 2 part time jobs that didn't interfere with the other job is highly unlikely. You still wouldn't have gas to make it to work or even a bus ticket after rent is paid much less any food on the table. And God Forbid what happens when you get sick from working 2 or 3 part time jobs a day?
All I can say, is my son got laid off from work from a job through a temp agency. He had sent out over 231 applications and resumes in the course of 3 months, with only 2 interviews. This was going on while he was collecting his unemployment benefits. So MsaLisa, there is people out there looking for work hoping for a win at a job! Just like the lottery or a sweepstakes your chances are real slim.

The same here. I would rather know that I am going to get to my destination in one piece. Some of the people that are complaining and threatening to wear kilts is hilarious. Almost child-like. If you don't want to go through the scanner machine or the pat down, for god sakes take another form of transportation. Drive, take a bus or train. If its international, take a boat. Those that have to travel for business, need to talk to their employers for a lot of extra time to get to their destination. In other words, grow up everybody, and don't act like a child having temper tantrums.

You're right DangerD. After all, look at Beaverton. They waited and waited to build a MAX line. Even making more roads, more buses, but it didn't help. They had waited too long to where it would take almost 1/2 hour just to drive down 2 blocks!! Before they finally approved and had the MAX built. Its still bad in Beaverton, but not as bad as before it went to service.

Thats exactly how I feel, anyone that threatens to touch my social security, privatize it or whatever will NOT get my vote. And I'm speaking for millions of seniors.
I worked since I was 16, every year and every day of my life. And now, I can finally receive SS, these lame brains want to privatize it so to fill the pockets of those on Wall Street. NO WAY!!!

You're right PD1202 they probably will start blaming the Obama administration.
First off, I'm sorry for the family of Gunderson. I know he will be missed badly now, and in the years to come.
I had made a comment a few months back when a young girl I believe in her early 20's that got hit by a car on McLoughlin Blvd. one night as she was partly standing in the lane ready to cross the street. An ambulance was coming down the road with lights and siren on. A young driver had apparently seen the ambulance approaching so he started pull over to the right hand lane, where the young girl was standing. He hit the girl as the ambulance drove past. It all happened a split second. I received a reply back on my comment from the young woman's brother a day after the accident. He thanked me for my comment, and said that right now she is still in the hospital in a coma. He stated he knew it was his sisters fault for standing on the street, had she stepped back, she might not have been hurt. Well, to end the story, she passed away a few days later.
She never had a chance to live her 30's, 40's, 50's or more. And it all happened because someone or anyone was paying attention, driving or crossing the street. A big price to pay all from a SPLIT SECOND.
So, DrRiderOR are you telling me that it was the Obama administration, City of Portland's fault that Gunderson got in an accident because HE wasn't paying attention? Like what happened on McLoughlin, it was the approaching ambulance with lights and siren on, was it the ambulance drivers fault for the young lady to lose her life??? Not hardly so. In case you don't know, every president's administration Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, all of them, when there is a president arriving they close all streets or highways, rush hour or not. And its the people of the USA that pays for the escorts in whatever city. Its all in their budget, its not just Portland that pays for that escort.
Again, to the family of Gunderson, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through these difficult times. .

Part of that "Change" that was promised, was withdrawal from Iraq. When Obama took the job of President, this country was going down the tubes fast, and he is TRYING to fix it...as promised. The only problem is he is trying to fix too much in a real short time span compared to 8 years from the previous one in command.

Wait a minute!! I was at Lloyds shopping center with a companion going up the escalator when it stopped. Even more so, I was about 6 steps from the top when it stopped. A few seconds later the escalator started going backwards for all the people that was on. My companion and I walked briskly to the top, (the six steps took around 20 to get to the top while the escalator going backwards. End of story, we both made it to the top and we was in our 50's. Why on earth would the father need to be rescued by the fire dept??

God, I hope I'm wrong, but think about it. With this quran burning crap that's going on that's suppose to happen on 9/11. Iran releasing one prisoner on 9/11 for us to see, is probably going to be a disaster. I'm betting that Iran is going to watch and see if the book burning is going to take place, and if so, will definitely do harm to one of the 3 or possibly all in front of our own eyes. Again, I hope I'm wrong on this.....and I pray for ALL 3 their safe return back to the USA.
