But how can you argue that LIFO is the best practice available? And I'm sure you can agree that the most experienced teachers does not necessarily equal the best teachers. Some evaluation system has got to be better than nothing. I'm sorry, but life isn't fair. Take a spin in private industry for awhile...nothing is 'fair'!
I'm pretty sure Boeing didn't even ask me if I had a mortgage when I got laid off.
Thank you for keeping everyone honest and helping to keep our eye on the ball of reform. Even if it means calling out the modern creator of this movement. The goal remains the same, and that is to save our children's education. Keep the momentum going, keep the wave building!
After recently experiencing a teacher's strike, I know more now than ever that teachers/unions are not striking for the sake of the kids. It's got nothing to do with the kids. The teachers in my district are highly paid, highly compensated yet our schools are the worst in our county. It is extremely infuriating! I wonder what it's going to take to get our parents and communities enraged enough to put the effort into fighting for our kids like the unions are fighting for bargaining rights, benefits, and tenure. I remember when Gov. Schwarzenegger fought to get tenure extended to 4 or 6 years from the current 2 years that is in CA now and it got completely shot down. The unions and tenure force teachers to perform to the average, it encourages no one to teach to their best. Thank you Dana for trying to do what you can to get this conversation out in the public.
Congrats Gary! Am honored to have heard it first on the show...JT in OC
I watched this series the first time when I was 11 years old and loved it and then watching it last night, we laughed the whole hour because of the scary parallels to the "O"'s. The interview with Anna was spot on!
