Many fundies are atheist deniers: they teach their children that atheists are 'people who hate [their] god' rather than people who don't believe in any of the gods.

Any attempt at showing them that atheists (in the real sense) even exist brings to the table the concept of their god not existing. And even that's unacceptable to them.

It's kind of like herd immunity for vaccines, but in reverse: as long as they are surrounded by people (and the opinions of people) who are infected, they feel safe.

What are the chances that they would murder you before the week was up?

If that was a way to remove any chance of their precious belief system being proved to be pure bullshit, pretty high I think...
