All AZ did was give local cops direct authority under several existing laws to enforce the laws (since the govt won't/can't whichever is the excuse this week).
pazzi, thank you for coming to our country and following our laws like every other citizen. I know from experience what it is like to move to a foreign country and having to obey laws I never knew. It does say in fairly good size print on a green card that the card must be in the holders possession at all times and must be provided to any official on demand.
Security officers ask for it too. You don't HAVE to produce it for them, but they will just call a cop and get it from him anyway. Final point, many times a highly intelligent criminal (sarc) will try to bluff an officer til his ID gets run. He may even claim not to have one. (they always do) It is almost impossible to live in this country without being in the system SOMEWHERE. You HAVE to register for the draft at 18, or you go to jail. You HAVE to have a SS# to work, or you starve. You HAVE to have a DL to drive, you may get away with it for a bit but they will eventually figure you out.
Actually, local authorities DO enforce federal laws. Every cop in a courthouse is doing it. It's a Federal law that firearms are prohibited in government buildings. A cop can pick me up for kiddie porn or drugs, which are state AND federal violations.Double jeopardy DOES exist in those scenarios. I don't care if its FBI, DEA, ATF, FHP, or any SO (Florida Highway Patrol and Sheriff's Office respectively) ; crime is crime. They don't give a flying monkey crap if its a state or federal statute. They WILL lock you up.
Hell, its printed on my FL DL. This document must be carried on your person while operating a motor vehicle. Bam. Point, blank, period. No loophole, no "Commercially". Done. In all 50 states, what is the first thing a cop says as he approaches? "Licence and Registration, please."
I saw a little line in there which makes me nervous. "repeal and replace" I don't WANT a replacement. I just want the original abortion repealed! This is not a "Health Bill" its a TAX bill.
