300 "jobs" being lost to Wales, where there will be no increase in staff levels?
Says a lot about over staffing in the silly service.

Whilst my heart goes out to those about to be SORN'd so to speak, the people on the hill need to get the collective finger out and attract productive, wealth creating jobs rather than paper shuffling job schemes.
We rely on national government funded jobs far more than any other region, and far more than is healthy.

I don't really admire Richard Branson for this:
Anyone who has ever been involved in a sizeable Govt contract process will tell you that there is a legal framework to follow, stated from the outset of the tender process, should you feel hard done by.

This option does not appear to have been undertaken by Virgin, who have instead gone on a PR/whine/"it's those nasty Tories fault" offensive, which just appears to be a serious case of sour grapes to me.

Dear Mr Branson, man up & grow a pair of hairy boys - your proposal wasn't accepted, face up to the fact your offer fell short & just move on.

Apart from less people being murdered and ordinary people's lives not being disrupted just as much with security alerts; what benefits have the people seen in putting both sides of the terror game officially in the payrol of the Queen?
Please point to the improvements in living standards since this crowd of social misfits were put in charge of healthcare, education (don't start me on that one), justice, transport, or jobs because I must have been out that afternoon.
Would anybody seriously employ any of our politicians in the private sector? There's a reason why at least one of them had "unemployed barman" on his CV - he was rubbish even at pulling pints. Lord help us, and thats what the voters vote for :-(

I've been trying to make the link between sub prime mortgages, democracy, extradition of terror suspects and this bloke that can only comb his beard with one hand - I must have led a very sheltered life, or missed that particular guardian artical as I can't link the topics here.
Perhaps Ms Grice would be so kind as to join the dots up for me?

On my way back home from Dublin today (actually trying to generate income for this country) I noticed that the traffic que exiting Belfast south on the M1, was longer and more congested than is usual for a Wednesday evening.

Now, this either means the 76% of the population employed by the government didn't bother striking, or, those on flexi time that usually p iss off early every day decided to go home after their extra day Xmas shopping at the same time.

Funny how the poll for/against in the BT was roughly the % employed b y the Government.
