I hate it when people publish numbers like these without any scientific base to back up the claims of the "facts".
If you are interested in real "Facts" I suggest you look inside one of the many journals published by Sociologists, Criminologists, Psychiatrists etc that tackle these kinds of issues with empirical evidence.
Two quotes for starters about this subject:
1)"...[I]n contrast to popular thinking, female sex workers are an extremely heterogeneous population. They are situated in a myriad of social and environmental contexts...
Past and current studies suggest that there are many different types of female sex workers, including 'call girls' and escorts working in the upper echelons of the sex industry, 'in-house' sex workers working in parlors or brothels, 'street-walkers' who sell sex for money through sidewalk solicitations, part-timers who supplement their incomes with sex-for-pay, and drug-involved street-based sex workers, the majority of whom shift between sex-for-money and sex-for-drug exchanges as circumstances require."
July 2005 - Hilary L. Surratt, Ph
All of your postulated "facts" would have differing results depending on which population of "prostitutes" were questioned.
2)"...[L]ittle of what is known about the size of this population... has been derived from careful scientific study. Most studies of prostitutes rely on samples of convenience, typically recruiting in jails, STD clinics, and methadone maintenance programs. A few studies also include outreach recruitment of respondents in areas known for street prostitution....
The usual way to minimize sampling bias is through the use of probability sampling techniques. However, the nature of commercial sex work makes that approach especially difficult. Because prostitution is an illicit activity, registries or rosters of prostitutes are not available,... persons in the general population who are willing to admit to such activity is inefficient and unlikely to yield satisfactory coverage of the target population."
