Thank you for bringing this event to the Galax community. I've got some family in that area and know that times were difficult a few years ago and only guess that times have gotten harder there. I will make sure that they know about this opportunity.

My senior pastor is all about this. In face, every single staff member of the church (including pastors) were people who made themselves available to God through serving and discipleship starting with cleaning the church and progressing through ministries and leadership. In turn, we each pour into the lives of others at the church and disciple them.
In regards to how I'm using social media to empower others ... one way that I'm doing that is through Tokbox video small groups ... raising and training up leaders through that means. As I immerse the church more and more into Social Media utilization in every aspect of ministry (Twittercasting services/iCampus, etc), I am looking for others who have a heart to serve and am bringing them into these ministries with the intention of them one day being the leaders.

Great post. That is the reason I post on my blog ... it's the reason I twitter and the reason I am on facebook as well as many other social sites. There is a passion I have to communicate good news with others and it overflows into these networks. There's also a flip side and that is that through those connections I discover others with big ideas and great insights and I get to learn and grow as well.
