Not sure why the author is wringing her hands about the moral degradation of these women. The entertainment industry is dominated by bottom feeders. The coin of its realm for young girls is sluttiness and left wing views, ergo, if they want to succeed they have to behave that way. No sense hoping they'll regret it at some point.
It's uncanny how he shares that beady-eye stare with the self-described "compassionate conservative", too.
Do these graphs account for the fact that if you remove all of the Medicare/Social Security/Nanny state spending of recent decades, there's no doubt that defense spending would be as high a percentage of the total in the modern era as in the earlier one? ... And why is there is there a missing gap from 1860 to 1950? I agree with a strong defense, but this article must be using Obama-style methods of statistical analysis similar to how the Labor Department disguises the true unemployment rate.
But maybe I'm wrong--I don't spend my day wanking to an issue of The Economist at a think tank.
I agree, the foul language used by everyone but Dexter is a big turn-off. I seriously doubt that language is tolerated in group situations in a police department, even in these times. I can imagine lawsuits being filed for "hostile work environment" in the real world, every time I see that. But in a way it makes Dex more sympathetic to me because he only uses foul language rarely, and it when it seems appropriate. I actually dislike all the other cops on the show because they remind me of teenage a-wholes.
I watch an episode of CSI each year, finding myself gazing in wonderment at just how much stretching an aging actress' face can take. Oh, I think we're supposed to refer to both genders as "actors" now--sorry about that....I suppose they need the surgery so we can distinguish between them and the tasteless display of a corpse laid out on a table.

I used to live a couple blocks away from the Tonight Show studio. You, sir, have nailed it. People that line up for these hack shows are interested in celebrity only. It reveals much about Leno's & Letterman's lack of talent that there are never any substitute hosts. The great Carson always had them fill in, and that was a testament to the confidence he had in his own ability.
Haiti got rid of the white man and just LOOK at the paradise it has become. Same with Zimbabwe--Why, you can buy a loaf of bread there for only a trillion Zimbabwe dollars now that the Whites have disappeared. Things get so much better without white people around.
People aren't meant to be alone, necessarily. But too often, not being alone means accepting the values and interests of the herd just to fit in. I think the holiday depression results from feeling obligated to have a connection that isn't there the rest of the year. It's inauthentic, somehow.
