Let's examine other cases too -- such as convicting those young 18 year old men of "kidnapping" their so called friend who set one of them up to be robbed and beaten. The robbed and beaten went after his assailants - and never even found them. Long story - but kidnapping??? Not hardly!!!! Go ahead though - Boulder sick detective who decided to call it a "kidnapping" when it clearly wasn't. Somehow, there were personal ties with this detective and the assailants. The assailants admitted their plan to beat and rob, and were released!!!! Insane. So, yes murder convictions really need to be examined. The twisted DA that caused a lot of misfortune for people is now gone. She was ill in the mind. But, another could come along.
Please stop this nonsense all of you people in Boulder with authority AND crazy ideas!
How about instead, we give prizes to everyone that doesn't do dumb stuff, and are doing good things? When people abuse drugs, it is a financial hardship on everyone around them. By "drugs" - I think of horrible stuff like Meth. The fact is, a young person who happens to get tangled with the law and perhaps only smoked pot, can be court ordered to do "rehab". Rehab often just makes young people into "Legal" drug addicts, because some so called "professional" decides this person has depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, ADD, ADHD, and the list goes on, often forcing the person to take 5-6 different prescription drugs EVERYDAY. And, if the person doesn't comply, they have now "violated" the order. I would never support in any way the approach that is taken here in Colorado from what I have seen.
There are people who belong there - (jail) and people who just don't. It has always been this way. Much depends on the sanity, education, kindness, and intelligence of the detective who first interviews the person - and believe me - there are at least two I know @ BCJ that are not fit to decide the fate of anything or anyone. They are praised for finding a "charge" to put on someone in 2 hrs. It doesn't look good for them when they release people without a charge after having been through arrest and all. It is often extremely unjust and unfair. One just would not realize how much so until they work or have experience in the world of law enforcement and/ or the courts.
And last thing for everyone to know, he was most definitely not a pill popper. Get your facts straight, you have no idea how wrong you are
Look, no one who had commented on here really knows the story, your just talking off of what crap people want you to believe to make the kid look worse and the officers look better. To any one who commented or wants to, get some background information and assert the situation before you go making your opinion please. I know that guy really well, and news like this is worded perfectly to make him seem as bad as they can so that people can judge off what false information they are fed through the internet. He is an amazing guy with a great heart, and he did not cut the officer!!! The cop did get a cut, perhaps. But an extremely minor one, and not in any way from the 16 year old shown in this picture. If anyone was out of line, it was the cop..not him. He was not out of control, and he did not need to be tazed. It was so unnecessary, and he was tazed at such a high power that he literally just...dropped. He didn't even shake because it was so powerful. His heart could have easily stopped, and he was throwing up on himself, not able to so much as stand for a period of time before the paramedics arrived. To even mention his family when you are an uninformed commenter makes me more than angry, because you don't know if he even has a mother to care about this at all, or a dad. Maybe you'd realize how dumb that was to say when you saw a coke addict family who couldn't care less, continuing on with their everyday lives like nothing happened. He needs help, not judgment. I'd like to see what people commented if they really knew the true story, and everything behind it. All I'm recommending here, is to not judge till you are positive of the truth and you know your information. Try and walk in these kids shoes. Till then, don't let it be a part of what you have to say. And don't just let that apply to this, but to your every day lives as well.
You're probably one of them - trying to convince yourself! Of course there are "stand up" guys there. Every business or institution has some. Overall, they are not "stand up" as you put it.
"INMATES"???? What do you think they are a breed or something? You could be an "inmate" yourself. Think about what you are saying. Do you think police are Gods? There are MANY "inmates" who shouldn't be in there at all!
And, for the ones that DO belong there, perhaps THEY do have too many rights. That could be.
Again, I am referring to all of the ones that DID NOT commit a true crime and were given that label such as "felon".
What does that word really mean? This is a word for someone who really committed a criminal act. MANY who have not done so have been given this label! I no longer take it seriously until I know what they have actually done - or not done. Remember, the police and detectives and the court system need to have crimes, or they don't have anything to report. There is just as much corruption in their little world as there is anywhere else.
You are absolutely right about their attitude in there. We had a loved one go through it too. Unfortunately, his false accuser convinced some that he was a "victim". This way, he quickly realized he wouldn't have to take responsibility for anything. Nothing much even happened actually, but the Boulder police Dept. made a mountain out of a molehill. This story has a very sad ending, and I will always hate those people and the "system". I have tried to find forgiveness, but I couldn't.
