Cydia Unable to load

I've jailbroke my 3G with Redsn0w thanks to the advice of others and now in the process of attemting to unlock the phone but I keep getting a network error when I enter Cydia saying "unable to Load. ( a server with the specified hostname could not be found.)"

Help please

I've looked into redsn0w and it scares me some. I guess what i'm asking is will pwnage come out with something more user friendly? I'm not computer savy and I don't want to take chances.

Iphone 3G updated to 4.0

I get my brother's hand me downs. When he got the 3G I got his old 2G. Now I have his 3G that he updated to IOS4 before giving it to me. I need to jailbreak and unlock it for me to use it. Am I out of luck at the moment?
