I take exception to the boomer slam...my friends and I are boomers, worked our entire lives in healthcare. Weekends, holidays etc so our kids would have it better than us. Paid for their college education so they wouldn't have loans, sacrificed new cars and vacations so they could have what they needed. Now find ourselves to be the sandwich generation with fulfilling the needs of elderly relatives while still helping kids with downpayments on houses or with babysitting.__We were not in the Hippie culture, never protested in our lives until recently with the Tea Party. Have little left for retirement, did NOT spend it all on luxuries but lived frugally, do not have the latest and greatest new electronic toy .... Not sure where the selfishness of the baby boomers comes from.__So we aren't spending anybody's money but our own which we worked very hard for, no pensions for nurses who worked in private hospitals, we have to rely on SS or money we have saved.

Occupy Utica...local TV station had link to the Occupy website, local radio and TV stations advertised the event non stop for 5 days, local paper imbeded a reporter, didn't last too long as few showed up. Then the news reported that "400" showed up the first evening but stated they got that number from an ACLU representative. In no way were there more than 150 which went down to a handful....finally the coverage stopped this weekend.
I got into a discussion with the local radio station news director....he stated they had to mention this every half hour for days because it was a BIG event in our community....well NOT. FYI Tea party got little to no coverage when requested and was diminished all the way

It was Washington who gave Wall Street and the Banks the bailout . It is the current administration who loaded advisor positions with people from Wall Street and Banks. Geithner was from the NY Fed and if you look into these people's backgrounds they all made money off trade and specutlation...gee think there might be any insider trading there? Yet the SEC did nothing to anybody along the way to corruption__The tea party goal is not only to lower taxes but to get the career politicians out, get non politicians into office.....but in this system there is no way to get into a political position without money. The powers that be make it hard for any outsider to get in. __Not sure where you got Backman and Palin are linked to big money...obviously you don't read what they say but listen to the MSM talking points that have slammed them.__So backing the Socialists and Communists and Nazi's is a better solution? That is what many in "Occupy" seem to think is a solution. Go and see how well that worked out in Cuba, Venezula etc. Better yet speak to someone here who came from a communist country. They do not like what they see happening here now. We are going down the wrong road.

There were many gatherings throughout the country that were ignored. Locally we had several hundred in Rome at Fort Stanwix on several occasions. Yes it has died down in visibility lately but that doesn't mean it isn't there

The Tea Party has been dissed by the press at every opportunity...what have they done? Well put people they represent into positions of power. Can't get change overnight in a very corrupt system, many republicans are just worried about their political careers and represent only themselves, not the will of the people.
Locally it is very difficult to get many to participate in anything, part of the reason is many are taking from the goverment and those who are not have to work like dogs to pay the exhorbitant taxes, utilities etc that NY State puts on us.
No news media outlet put direct links on its site, advertised for a week at every newscast on the half hour...no event has ever received that much attention. The media wants Occupy to succeed and are doing everything possible to make it so.....Tea Party not so much

I have stood up for my rights many times but nowhere is there a right to occupy.
There is also nothing in the Constitution that lists a right to education as stated on their platform on the occupyutica.org page.

Make changes within the current political process but unfortunately I have done my research and this "movement" is about revolution and changing our republic into a "democracy" of mob rule.

They do not represent the 99%, there is no such thing but there is a 47% who pay nothing in taxes. They all need to reseach just who started this movement and for what purpose before being used as pawns in a game to create chaos sponsored by the current party in power.

unbelieveable the amount of coverage all the news outlets are giving this. Since when is "occupying" anything going to help the process? Minimal to no to dismissive coverage of tea party events where at least there was a cohesive message and support for candidates to help make significant changes. No violence, no messes and no occupations plus proper permits obtained.
They have a right to protest but not to "occupy". Are you staying with them because this is "big news" or are you showing your bias?

What bothers me most is the news coverage this is getting. Our local TV station covered this and then announced a planned protest in our area....Also I heard on Fox someone state this is the left's "Tea Party". Now I've been to many Tea Parties and I have never seen anyone look or act like these people. Also no arrests.
This is not what the majority of this country looks like, thinks like or acts like....wish they would just quit giving them so much coverage, it is going to get worse all over the country
