I have a book with a volcano on the front: that's my "idea" book. Most of it looks like doctor scribble because I'm writing an idea down while driving and not looking at the book. Doesn't matter, I can read it and I've captured the idea. Very important!
Then I dedicate one day a week to writing. Hopefully I get all 4 weekly posts done and if I'm on a roll, a few spare posts that sit as drafts.
Those spare posts have been lifesavers when my brain is parched and I have no writing inspiration or when I need to move a scheduled post off and replace it with a spare because the timing of my scheduled topic turns out to be awful...

Sometimes I don't give my prayer request because I had just got done listening to the most fantastically embellished, boarding on outright lie, request. It causes me to want prayer request time to end, and honestly by the time I've finished listening to the wacky story I give up and think I'll just take a pass because really who can compete with someone whose Aunt has almost died like 54 times, been kidnapped by the adult son 3 times (who also has numerous aneurisms) and the Aunt is being held prisoner by the caregiver in an undisclosed location and has a large sum of money buried under a tree somewhere.
Honestly I'm not kidding, and feel safe to vent here because I know this person doesn't read SCL, although she say she does - but she was also once an astronaut (okay that last part was a lie - but I wouldn’t put it past her).

Great stuff Jon. "Hope is one of the first things that disappears when you get lost..." is so true.
Maybe next book will be "Stuff Christians Get Serious About....On Wednesdays" cause there is some awesome thought provoking stuff coming out of your brain. Thanks again for a great post

AA day late on reading - but still commenting. Matt - GREAT post. Seriously I want to go to the church with all those people - what a great place that would be... (okay, not Pat though – I’m very judgmental)

Once at church, a "disturbed" guy came in and put something odd in the offering basket. It was some doll with feathers and stuff. Of course he was discreetly and kindly escorted out – where several police cars came for him. But then I thought..."OMGosh - what if that was Jesus we just escorted out of the church" (thinking Matt 25 - Sheep/Goats). Kinda sad.

Other good marriage advice:
1) Eat weekly dinners and Sunday Lunch together - and not in front of the TV - even if there is nothing to say then just "Enjoy the Silence" (thanks Depeche Mode)
2) Keep the "date night" - keep it like the Sabbath (in my head that sentance sounded like rap)
3) Never leave a container with less than 1 Tbl of stuff in the fridge, it is the equivalent to 1 square of TP, or gas tank running on fumes. Just don't do it. It's not worth the HOLY WAR I'll bring down on you....

I have no stickers, strictly forbidden as a teen and I've kept that "rule". But if I could choose two to display for a day - they would have to be WILD. I think I'd choose:
Old School # 17 “Live it up, sinner.” – 10 points AND
Up and Coming # 6. “God created it. The Bible said. My wife and I are doing it. SEX.”
