I wonder if this is one of those situations where too much information is a bad thing anyway. Just do a quick search to make sure there are no recalls or other glaring problems, and then go buy one from the closest Sears/Home Depot/whatever. I mean, your time is valuable, and it's not like there are dozens of different makers out there. Really there's only a few, and the money spent pretty much equates to what you get.

I'm not disagreeing with your main point, I just think we all worry too much about getting all information possible when it really probably doesn't matter too much for a bunch of these decisions.

As I've gotten older I've gotten to where I can't really sleep more than about six hours. If I can work in a 10-minute nap, though, I do much better getting through the afternoon.

I am getting wiser, but I'm not getting older, and anyone who tells you I am is a damn liar.

Redeye flights have always killed me. One that didn't was to Buenos Aires, I think in part because it was such a long flight (14 hours if I remember correctly) so I got to sleep a bit longer, and also in part because it was only an hour different than NY, where I was flying from so I didn't have the changing time zones on top of the lack of sleep in a bed.

As for the big business sucking at the bosom of government... Yes, it is unsetting, but a lot of those companies are doing good work, and it's certainly better that private companies are doing a lot of it. The government itself is not trying to do everything, those are private companies doing all that hiring around the beltway.

You were part of my inspiration for writing this: Five reasons to skip Google Wave, for now: http://bit.ly/26ZPUE

I know Wave is hard to understand, so I've become a Wave writer to try to make sense of it all. The best way to understand something is to learn it well enough to teach someone else, I figured, so when a friend asked me to take on this topic, I agreed.

Here are two recent posts:

The bottom line is that Wave is just not soup yet, but I think because it fixes a lot of the underlying "plumbing" problems with the pipes on the interwebs, it will be interesting to watch for years to come.

And in a year or two, it will probably be useful for more people. Right now, however, it's just a mess.

I thought filtrbox was doing a lot of that for you...
I agree with the other Scott, I bet there's a Google Wave solution coming down the road for you, and for all of us.

Whew. That would not have been good. I miss the days when I covered cops for the local paper so I knew most of them in the towns I was living in. Amazing how much power the cops have.

People have been trying to come up with a name for years, and it's always flopped, but for very good reasons!

Power point for sure would have induced the coma, so that was a good decision for them not to use that.
