Great points, Jon!

Georgia,

If it helps any, I would always opt for a slide for every bullet. This may increase the slide count of your presentation but it will make your presentation far more dynamic and engaging. For instance, instead of staying on one slide for 5 minutes going bullet by bullet - stretch the presentation out into multiple slides staying on each slide for 15-20 seconds. This will allow you to break up the content for your audience into bite size pieces.

What should your slides look like? Opt for big visuals and minimal text. You can find all kinds of great photos at sites like istockphoto.com and fotolia.com. And, as far as text... bigger is better. This will allow your slides to look much sexier than a typical template.

I hope this helps!

Martin,

Thanks for the links. Good stuff! Dick Hardt also popularized the Lessig style with this talk:

Thanks, Jon! I completely agree. I think it is all about practicing and then practicing some more. :) That's the only way to build confidence.

Just out of curiosity, how many times do you typically recommend your clients to practice their presentations? My general rule of thumb is to practice at least 8-10 times before giving the talk. Obviously, the more, the better.

Great suggestion. I always have the intention of eating healthy when I step into a restaurant but it never seems to happen. :) Too many temptations!

Thanks again for the grocery store suggestion. I need to apply that next time I hit the road.
