Absolutely correct. It is very easy to retrieve data sent over the internet. Of course that requires a court ordered warrant. While this is a very nasty thing to say, it is not a crime and the legal system will certainly not act to solve a 'pissing contest'. Even if it were a crime, I seriously doubt the political climate in our government would have any interest, desire, or initiative to do anything about it. Now, if it were someone from a conservative group who sent said email, there would be a rush to investigate and punish those involved.
