Aramaic is a language, not a background. He (if he existed) was from the tribe of Judah, one of the 12 tribes of Israel....Jewish. There is no such thing as "racially" Jewish. Race is a social construct, not a description of ethnicity. There are Jews of all ethnicities.
Wow. Such ignorance. There are Jews of all colors, all ethniticities, all over the world.
Thanks so much, Pat.
And YES.
I get what you mean, Mark, and thanks. That's the thing about trauma (not that you don't know this)....it's not like you "let" people get to you. It's a physiological response. And yes, there are surely things that you can do to lessen that response....but I don't think it ever completely goes away. The fact that I was able to respond as I did (which I've never been able to do before) says to me that I actually didn't "let him get to me", at least not in the way that I have with similar incidents in the past. So that's a good thing. Love to you, too.
Bambi Wiggle....LOL. That is a MOST excellent idea. Leave it to those loyal readers to see through an existential dilemma and come up with the best of both worlds.
Well, you know, that's an excellent question, Anna. If I were writing only for myself, I wouldn't be keeping a blog, I'd be keeping a journal. That's the point at which I sway over to my sister's view of blogging. I don't think I do it for my own sense of satisfaction. It is definitely, absolutely, for me in some fashion, but is that primary? I'm not at all sure about that. When I try for analogies (not that they're that much help) I tend to think of myself more like a columnist....do columnists write "for themselves" or for publication? I won't say I'm the latter, because I'm not. But I surely float somewhere in between.
How about forwarding the blog to them, and they post *their* most influential teacher? That would be cool.
Hey, come back to this blog and write when you've read it. I'll be interested to know what you think.
Ah. Going where your heart tells you to go. I'm familiar with that. :)
