For me it would be just fine if the US vetoes statehood for the Palestinians. At least then we can have a public demonstration of the extent to which Obama is in Israel's pocket. I'm tired of hearing the US government say it wants to be an honest broker in the so-called Middle East peace process.

Wow, 2017 ! It's right around the corner, isn't it. And at only $40 billion a year, it will be a bargain. Too bad most of it will go toward killing people and destroying things.

While I agree with some of the characterizations of what's amiss in the region, I would submit that the combination of a corrupt, narcissistic Army General, a Machiavellian Pakistani Intelligence service (ISI), which created and financed the Taliban who are killing our troops, and the most incompetent administration (Dubya/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice) in my recollection, has created a situation which has endangered the civilized world. To simply walk away at this point would be about as childish a response as I can think up. It may be too late to straighten this out, but it would be stupid not to try.

Boy, this article gets to about as simple-minded an analysis of the situation as I've ever seen. I cannot believe the writer is serious, but he sure is folksy, and that after all, is what America is all about, folksy, common sense analysis, kinda Dubya-like.

I'll start believing the West is interested in curbing nuclear weapons proliferation when we come down on Israel for non-adherence (no signature whatever) to the NPT.
This entire exercise reeks of hypocrisy, something which has become a hallmark of the western nations since the end of the cold war. It stinks of superiority and racism.
Iran has backtracked only on those gestures which exceeded the IAEA requirements, reporting regimes they were not even required to offer. If their offers above and beyond what's required are withdrawn, the West has no right to assert that Iran has failed to live up to its international treaty obligations. I call on the Obama administration to come clean and admit we're simply doing Israeli's bidding.

Why are the responses from the white house characterized as strongly worded ? This is a joke.

Your view is ridiculous on its face. How many Arabs have migrated to Israel from outside the area (say from Jordan or Lebanon) to settle within Israel, other than those Arabs who previously owned property there, subsequently confiscated by Israel ? On the contrary, the settlers are building on land in the West Bank, contrary to UN declarations that state that the settlements are illegal under international law ? Or, perhaps you just can't be bothered about international law ? I believe the truth is more that Israelis would like to rid Israel of all non-Jews.

If Israel preemptively attacks any facility in Iran, it must be considered by the international community as an act of war, period. Preemptive attacks are by any reasonable definition acts of war. The present government of Israel is a government of warmongers, who believe that any act of aggression they undertake is justified. It's time for the world community to de-fang Israel and cancel their Holocaust Get out of Jail Free card. We don't need yet another war in the middle east.

Why don't we get honest and label the annual bill for "aid" to Israel the war crimes enabling act, or the open-air prison maintenance act, or some such more accurate handle ? Then, at least, the American taxpayers would have some information about where their three billion goes every year.
