Do you think a VA employee would be dumb enough to say anything to CNN?? They've seen what happens to whistle blowers
with "protection". Heck, those people are so paranoid, cut a mouse fart in a VA, and everyone jumps.... ; )

All that PAO would have had to say is.... "SOP on the phones.... don't answer them... let audex pick up....
and only call back the non-veteran calls... oh... and if anyone talks to CNN, we'll open up a whole can of VA retaliation on your ass"... ; )

Maybe the people complaining have something to complain about? Most of my care at the VA has been very good.
It's just those two incidents of retaliation, mental abuse, failure to investigate, cover-up and denial from the facility to the VISN to the OIG,
that stick out in my mind.
I'm sure there are millions of Veterans that have nothing but good things to say about the VA,
but you and the DAV commander should maybe listen to the thousands that don't.
The facilities and employees in the private sector wouldn't even think of doing some the crap I've seen and heard about the VA.
Was I ever promised private health care, No, I'm saying the zillions of dollars used for the VA would be better spent in the private sector.

Hmmm?? I don't know.... I think if you kicked the VA out of the current facilities (along with the union),
and gave the same amount of money to a private companies,
you would have better service and Veterans would be treated like a valuable customer/patient rather than a number.
Break up the VA dictating monopoly...

Yea....There's a million of these stories out there.... So, I won't bother telling mine.... As unfair as it seems, they've got every little trick, legal under Federal Law.
No matter which way you spin the scenario, they've got their ass covered. As long as the Director keeps it at about 30% (national average) Veterans employed,
no one says a word. My big question is, are they counting Constructive Work Program Vets in their numbers (I'm sure they are)??
I was told union agreement this, union agreement that..... They write their own laws and they enforce their own laws....
I don't know how many times I was told; you need to start at the bottom.... Housekeeping or Dietary. So much for that college degree...

Unless they screw a current VA employee (where the union will step in) there's nothing you can do.
But they shouldn't make that Veteran Preference thing out to be something it's not.... Because that and a buck will only get you a coffee at McD's.....
and some McD's give a 10% Veterans discount, so you could get change back?? ; )

and even then it would be ruled non service connected because she wasn't authorized to have it when she entered the service......

The VA picks and chooses what is private and it changes when every they want it to change.... __Look and the number of HIPAA violations... the VA is so far ahead of the rest of the world.....__It's kind of crazy.... because you about have to give a DNA sample just to look at your own records....__They have a program the redactes thier OIG reports.... __why couldn't the Doctors use it to redact patient personnal info?? before they save the little part they need
