When you have open source, its in its inherent nature of things for the good qualities of a software to be imbibed by everything else in the class. I will definitely check out tupac and yaourt. I haven't yet seen one of these frontends in action. I find 'yum' pretty useful and precise.

Yeah they do allow real time collaboration through video and audio, so you can say goodbye to skype. You can presently sign up for a beta tester account or just leave your email for a sign up. Mashable was giving away some invites too but that was some time back and they've quickly got over. In the meanwhile I have spoken to their execs to see if getting invites are possible. Lets see if that happens.

Have you used Linux?

To an Arch Linux user, that's definitely true.

I guess an open protocol to store identities may be the answer. it needn't be a governing body. Just like a file protocol that any site can read out of.

Not only in communication but also in terms of various data intensive services, I wish there was portability of the information. I am looking forward to Wave because I would have the freedom to choose different providers yet communicate from a single platform. I am not one to use the entire integrated system, but wave as a protocol is certainly exciting and would usher in more portability in our communications. However, to create an open source alternative to Wave with the same capabilities will be too hard, because most companies today do not even have the capacity to run XMPP alone (one of the protocols used in Wave) for millions of users. So what I think will mostly result out of this, is parts of Wave's technology will be implemented until we gradually move forward into a more Wave-like communication model. However, with Google invested into this, things might be quite different and just like Gmail  and Google Maps it might revolutionize the way we interact with the web. It all depends on adoption and Google's convincing power. I am sold to the idea already.

It was a pleasure writing about Nanocrowd. The site is very slick to use and with the implementation of a watch-list and more tools for socialisation, i think this method of describing movies in short phrases might become quite the norm. Hope to see better things coming out of it. :)

Yes a complete solution is in fact difficult to find, however although Jinni is definitely more specific it is not my favourite. The lack of social features and a clear watch list is annoying. Plus as you said, it does not give that great summaries, so when i need to look things up quick (which is most of the time) its usually hellomovies and nanocrowd for me. Anyway, Jinni is still in private beta, so I am expecting it to branch out into something very fascinating and less resource intensive with time.
