I must say I think the situation is much simpler than that. Hollywood, and the freakshow that personifies it, simply reflect the sad reality of entertainment... it's a business. These people aren't all evil, conniving, hate mongers with a hidden agenda. They are business people looking to make money. How do they do that? Controversy because it sells. Let's take Seth McFarlane as an example. He does not focus on Christians exclusively. He makes fun of all kinds of people... as long as it will generate a reaction. I agree that there are some in "the biz" who genuinely have a chip on their shoulders with regards to the Christian faith but to assume that they have all intentionally singled out Christians as the "Whipping Boy" of Hollywood just seems to me to be a little naive. I think the bigger question is who cares? Did anyone see "Be Cool"? That movie had nothing to do with any secular denomination and I still found it utterly offensive. Hollywood produces cheap thrills for the masses. They dumb everything down cause apparently, according to them, the masses are a bunch of mouth breathing morons with attention spans that barely hold a candle to that of goldfish. What I think people should be more offended by is the drivel they have been force feeding us for the last 30 years. What ever happened to substance? The passion of the Christ was a ro Christian film, yet it offended many Jewish people. The matrix trilogy was set in a fantasy world yet it somehow managed to offend muslims. I think things would be much simpler if religion was just left out of public forums so that nobody would get offended but that's just never gonna happen. So what is the solution? Laugh it off. Unless you believe that there is some truth to the offensive content then it should not bother you. There will always be crude, offensive, ignorant people in the world but does anybody have the time to deal with them all, or even the energy to set them all straight? Let the ignorant be ignorant. They just make the rest of us look good
