Couldn't agree more! I would like there to be a "no small children" section in restaurants. I also don't mind kids who behave but there are a lot whose parents do not teach them how to behave in restaurants.
It was fast. I think the saturation of coverage is due partly to this occurring at Yale, an environment where people don't expect things like this to happen, also the close proximity of her wedding and the fact that her body was found on the day she was to have gotten married. The fact that she was found inside a wall is also kind of strange. I think there are a lot of factors that have just combined to make this a very strange case. Poor thing, how sad for her fiance.
Does anyone READ these stories before commenting? This happened during a transition time from class to lunch. I work in a school and I can see it happening. I can also tell you that at an elementary school there are many adults watching kids and herding them through the hallways during these times. I can also say that there will NEVER be as many adults as there are kids. Not even close. Teachers are just as entitled to take a lunch as any other PROFESSIONAL (they are not babysitters). Teachers do the best they can to watch many children at any given moment in the day. I don't know any teachers who don't take their responsibility for their student's safety extremely seriously. I am sure this child's teacher felt horrible. Lunchtime is an extremely chaotic time at an elementary school, especially in the first few days when everyone is trying to get used to a routine. First graders are often just getting used to spending an entire day at school. This is an unfortunate situation which could, unfortunately, happen in any school in the country. That's why parents need to help schools ensure that their children are very aware of what is ok to do and not ok to do. Most elementary school students know that it's absolutely NOT ok for them to leave the school without telling an adult. Also, they are very into tattling at that age which mean that none of her fellow students noticed her departure either or they surely would have made an adult aware. Thank goodness the girl was found unharmed and obviously the school is taking the situation very seriously. This situation has absolutely nothing to do with politics, how ridiculous to even try and draw that parallel, give me a break.
