A Singaporean comedian makes harmless fun of the political elites of Malaysia and there are calls for the authorities to ban him from entry. A radical muslim cleric flagrantly supports terrorism and he gets gifted three islands! What is the message that the Malaysian government is sending?
The reason cited to reject the digital advertising by DBKL, i.e., political sensitivity, is a stretch and reflects the small mindedness and intolerance of diversity. Malaysia is a multicultural society and we need to make space for the freedom of expression, especially if there's nothing offensive in this musical.
"This is being discussed so that the efforts of the government, for the health of the public, will not be seen by the industry as an infringement on their intellectual property rights..." This is important to note because this is exactly what TPPA will do to the sovereignty of Malaysia. Governments that are parties to the TPPA are subjected to potential lawsuits should they decide to regulate industries for whatever reasons, including the health of its citizens.
The whole world is watching! It's time that the Malaysian government ends its persecution and prosecution of lawyers, journalists, political activists and whistleblowers who dare stand up to the it.
If anyone feels offended, that is their problem

If only he would truly practice what he preaches!
Indeed, the NEP has mainly benefitted a small group of Malays associated with the ruling elites. It's time to move away from race based policies and make our economic policies more inclusive. If the government is serious about eradicating poverty, then it should focus on eradicating poverty across all ethnic groups.
The approval for organising a concert is not under Jakim's jurisdiction ...
-----------------
If Jakim has no oversight over concerts, please explain why it should have rules about a non-Muslim concert? Perhaps Jakim might want to stipulate that Muslims be barred from all non-Muslim events? Otherwise, they should no impose their religious beliefs onto all of us who don't share those beliefs.
Whoever might be responsible for this necessary yet belated spotlight, I'd like to know how many ex-finance ministers are bank owners?
Your logic is faulty, especially since the same argument won't hold water for chinese or indian k-pop fans. Some of the reasons that Umno remained in power: gerrymandering, intimidation and prosecution of opposition leaders, control over the EC, vote buying, and control of media.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the claim that he's a government asset and what exactly that means when it comes to a gambling kingpin who's suspected of ties with the underworld. More importantly, what does that mean in terms of the corruptibility of the Malaysian government in having to rely on and vouch for someone like him?
