I wasn't justifying gay marriage soley on one thing.

The 3 main reasons (to me) for allowing gay marriage:
1) Why should I care who marries or not?
2) It's discrimination
3) The government should not be dictating who get's married and who doesn't

The ignorance of letting fellow Americans be treated unequally is more amazing. It's so stupid how anyone cares who does and doesn't get married. You have people moving here and getting married for citizenship, you have people getting divorced as often as they change pants, celebrities getting married then divorced day's later and people clammering to read about it, people being unfaithful to their spouses...yet hey, rather than worry about that and try to do something about that, you want to keep someone from getting married who wants to....yeah brillilant.

I am a former Marine who gladly defended my country when asked as well as a hetro-sexual MARRIED white male. Gay and lesbian couples marrying does NOT hurt my marriage. I joined the military to defend the rights of every American citizen so don't preach to me about patriotic rights when you ARE trying to discriminate against my fellow American's. How about doing something for the divorce rate? If you want to defend marriage, become a marriage counselor and play an active role to do something positive for your fellow American's, maybe then you won't be so disenchanted.

Seems he is a bit sensative...or paranoid about something :) I agree with you, if it's legit great but if it's someone abusing the system, shut em down. I am for legalizing it, but just like anything else, if your going to cheat the system to make a buck then you run the risk of paying the penalty.

Right on, exactly what I was thinking. had a friend fill up in Arizone for $3.3x a gallon the other day, yet we are about $1 more....it's insane! "whining" aka vocalizing our frustration is MORE than justified as there really isnt much more we can do except not take our kids on vacations to get back at oil companies....

Exactly, an excuse to gouge us, nothing to do with environmentalist like biased news outlet's might encourage us to believe. They do it because they can is the real reason, and they make record profits. Maybe more tax breaks for oil companies will help?? Sorry, that last bit was sarcasm. :)

It isn't just about building improvements, it's also about procedure improvements. There are no cost/low cost improvements that can be done easily. For example, I have a high school foodball field that is visible on my drive home. They will have all of the stadium lights on when it's light out or when no games are going or even a practice. How about only turning on 1/4 of the lights if it's for people to walk around the track in the evening and not a sporting event, or just not have the lights on unless a game or practice is happening? Another example of a no cost improvement was when the janitors used to clean a school (not named intentionally), they turned all of the lights on before they started, then as they cleaned a room, they turned the lights off this way they knew which rooms had been cleaned. Once they found out how much money this wasted, they changed their procedure. These are the type of things that some school districts (Beaverton and a few others) are doing already but all of them should be doing it, looking for no cost/low cost energy savings.
