People keep talking about Obama as being smart. What they mean is giving off the appearance of thoughtfulness in the face of propagating the same policies as the administrations before him. He just makes it easier to accept the same thoughtless, horrible, destructive agenda. The way people talk about Obama is like they are going to a used car lot hoping that they get the oiliest, smoothest talking salesman so that they can feel good about being suckered into buying a lemon and the guy is so good that they defend the guy even after all their friends point out that they paid $10,000 for a '76 Econoline.

He never wanted to ramp up covert and overt military action in Vietnam the way they did in his first couple years. He was told he was agreeing to air dropping bibles and pajamas for the gooks who didn't have any. And once he found out he was tricked, he set out to put things right. You know how I know? Because he gave a SPEECH, you know, a non-binding verbal presentation, to a bunch of university kids. And because of this speech to people as far from the levers of power as possible, the secret cabal knew they were in trouble and dispatched their minions in the CIA who blew him away and ended any possibility for peace on earth.

Thank God! Who would want to see these appalling pictures? ACLU stay back! Thanks to Obama and the Supreme Court for protecting us from the horrors of these photos. I mean it's one thing to physically torture people convicted of nothing in some lawless Arab shit hole but displaying images of it in the American media where our poor innocent children might be subjected to the sight of a grown man's testicles is to say the least disturbing. I can't imagine the deleterious effect they could have on our society. Our country could end up looking like that broken and Godless Iraq.

He never acknowledges the fact that he was wrong about Obama and that other people LIKE Ron Paul and Ralph Nader knew exactly what Obama was going to do. Instead of saying, hey everyone, look, these people over here like William Blum, Alexander Cockburn and Mr. Walsh all had this guy pegged before he got elected and you shouldcheck out what they have to say, he instead speaks as if he hadn't been a total fucking flack for Obama and the Dems. It's equally disgusting how they keep pumping up all these other Democratic losers running for Congress. What does it take to get through to these people? As long as you keep backing people who are for war, you're going to get war.

I think that all anti-war "leaders" are a bunch of self interested losers, but Kathy Kelly is not one of them. The letter itself may be ineffectual, but Ms. Kelly has put herself out in harms way in a way that most people won't even allow themselves to imagine. She leads by example and I would guess doesn't consider herself the leader of anyone. She's been to prison over her beliefs and spends much of her time with the victims of America's violence in the Middle East. I think the over inflation of individuals is a (the?) major problem with most movements but Ms. Kelly is definitely not looking for sefl aggrandizement.

I particularly love the obliviousness of people like Norm here who help give Obama exactly what they want, which is votes and in turn political office, and then when they have no leverage go around telling people we need to write letters and hold up signs telling the same politicians they helped get elected to stop or start doing something. Why would these politicians even bother listening? They know that when the next election comes around progressive liberals, a term with zero meaning other than they feel cooler than their regular Democrat friends at the dinner table, will come running back with zero demands before giving their support. BRAIN DEAD AND COWARDLY!
