Dear Nick, first of all thanks a lot for your comment. Feedback from people with so much experience as you is greatly appreciated.

About the phrase "powerful new information technology tools might be critical to the advancement of the profession", I agree with you that the word critic might be too strong to define the role of the new IT tools that are being available. Nevertheless in this point I was thinking particularly in advanced semantic tools, to embed a bit more of intelligence in the actual systems, which I think will represent a big jump for the profession (practitioners as well as final users) and definitely an space to be watching in the future.

I was looking at your blog, you have a very interesting and extensive collection of KM articles there!
