It does seem strange when you have had a go about a player being paid £80.000 pw. Eggy would have cause to be more disgruntled than he is. Those kind of wages lead to higher ticket prices which is why I on a lowly 15K per year cannot afford to go to a match.
All very good points. It would be nice to be able to afford to go to games again. The biggest advantage would be the transport links. Just a note of caution though the Olympic stadium is partially built as a temporary recyclable structure (the intention to reduce down to 25,000 seats post games) if that was not to be the case what is that part of the buildings estimated life? Will it show defects after only a few years?
Not sure how we would be closer with the space for a running track. I am only skeptical not against. If it meant I could afford to go to a game again, which I have done only once in the last 20 years, that would be nice.
I remain skeptical that a move to the Olympic Stadium is a good idea. Part of the magic of where we are is the closeness of fans to the action (less since standing went) and it is an essential element to the atmosphere. If my memory serves me right when Arsenal moved many complained about the loss of atmosphere due to distance from the pitch. I am also confused as to how renting a stadium and being responsible for the upkeep and day to day running is cheaper than owning and being responsible for upkeep. As to when we could move, well we all know that the country's finances are in a mess and any incoming government will be wanting to put money back in the bank ASAP. The Olympic games will be over by September 2012 and given some of the stadium is to be dismantled the government would be looking for it to be in use again by early 2013. That to my mind is not years away but 36 months (with football a mere 7 months later). It seems to me to be better to improve the ground we have.
For me it is either Intermarket or Fernandes as I don't like the look of the other two. I find it strange that it is reported that Cellino is reported as going to give Zola the boot (a mistake in my book) and yet also reported as being friends. If he is prepared to do that to a friend what else is he prepared to do.....
On the Zola question who ever wins needs to keep him. I believe in his long term plan and his belief in our youngsters. I would like to see WHU return to sticking with managers for longer terms. This season may be tough but I feel Zola and Clarke will be shown to right in the end.
