This is one of the most enjoyable interviews I've yet come across with Russell Brand. It's refreshing listening to the focus on Russell's intelligence and wit rather than being fixated on his sexual being. Although Brand is very sexy, I find myself attracted to his quick wit, intelligence and rebelliousness. I love that he is as he says, unreasonable and feels he has been a social misfit. Misfits are characters and he portrays his character very well. Well done Elvis!
The future is now and now is the time for Americans ro stand up and speak out for their beliefs. What defines a Conservative? What defines a Liberal? Why must we even feel these labels are necessary? I truly believe that as an albeit very powerful nation we can move forward in a positive manner if these labels become transparent and if we all can just remember it's OK to agree to disagree. Don't waste our energy arguing or feebly attempting to force our beliefs onto others. Instead, pour that energy into helping change our world. Reach out and volunteer, donate, make a difference. Love and accept one another for who/what we are despite any labels. It will make the world a better and much brighter place.
Believe it or not I cast my vote for McCain/Palin despite being one of the only ones who did so in my social circles. I didn't believe America was ready for Obama, despite the color of his skin. But the color of one's skin shouldn't define a person's views or affect on the world. I think it was during Obama's Inauguration hoopla I began to take note. The controversy and debate over how "black" Obama was made me angry and I felt the suppressed rebelliousness ooze through my veins. WTF difference if we call ourselves Democrats, Republicans or Liberals? Gone are the days we were expected to vote and support only "our" Party of choice. THAT is racism.
Good article Jimmy. As for me, I was born & raised in a staunch Conservative family. I dutifully registered as such when I turned 18 and earned that inalienable right to vote in our great country. I've always been proud to be an American. It's taken me years to realize I'm much more liberal than I ever thought I was. My grandparents and father are likely rolling over in their graves at this revelation. World events such as the Vietnam, Gulf and Iraq wars, Watergate, 9/11 and life events including marriage at age 19 for all the wrong reasons, divorce the best thing that ever happened to me, and in my face single parenting challengess made me realize my life and views on such were out of control. My son was raised on MTV and video games--now that he is in college and a father himself, we've shared some healthy debates and I've learned quite a lot from him. His generation will change the world.
I hope that this gets sorted out, as SS is positioned to produce another award-winning project on Dr King.
Sounds great, wish I was there. Long drive from San Diego to the Strip tho. I'll take some time to check Alfonzo out. Have fun tonite....everybody wang chung tonite....
I loved Sid & Marty Kroft, still do. Maybe that's why I'm so fond of material and characters like Brand and the Mighty Boosh gang. Great excapes all of them.
Holy crap! I've got the same turntable but it doesn't work!
Funny you should ask that. Veggies and brown rice it is. How about you? Hmmm?
Agreeing to disagree is acceptable to me.
