Can you link to any of the sites that reported on this? I stand by my comment that posting on a blog isn't the same as being reported in the so called national news media. As for the military families with children, how many were there? Do you perhaps think that families don't provide Halloween parties for their children? Can you actually think of ways that money could be spent more wisely than parties?
At the very least Obama picks the most outlandish way to lavish money on parties. How many has the family had since 2008 and what was the unemployment index at that time? Or for that matter what has the misery index been since he has been in office? Now, shall we discuss the very recent Hawaii vacation that set the taxpayers back a cool 4 million USD? I think the whole point of this article may have been to show how the first family wastes money while the nation is suffering and people at that time (2009) were pointing out the waste of money in DC. To me this is reminiscent of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

Don't you just love our Imperial President and his Royal Court, the Jesters of the MSM? And for all the commenters who say this got publicity at the time , where and when did it get national publicity? Posting on a blog isn't actually an outlet for national news.

Many years ago, a publisher's rep told me that NYT's best seller list was made up of units ordered when a book first shows up in the catalog, usually three months before release, not the books actually sold to customers. And the number of unsold books returned to the publisher never make it to a public list, such as a "least sold" list. I hope Random House and McGinnis both take a bath on this one. The remainder houses will have a tough time selling this one at 99 cents.

I wonder what the print run was for the Palin book? Randon House usually prints thousands on the first run and with figures such as these, it looks as if one print run and then straight to the overstock bins. I thought it interesting that Ingram sold so few since they supply every library in the country. When the libraries shun a book, it's really bad news. I guess it's time to bid Joe a not so fond farewell.

@mrn_in_wnc, Is a typo really the only significant item in this article that would rate a comment?

wohlguy....he does know the majority of Americans don't agree with his vision but he does not care what the majority thinks. It's the special interest groups he is interested in. Nothing we do or say can change this man. If push came to shove, I don't think he has the capacity to care for anyone except himself.

Hi, my grandfather was a farmer and I don't think he knew the difference between races.....if you farmed and ran a good and productive farm, it really didn't matter to him what color you were. I am in my seventies and my grandparents have been gone many years but they taught me to have respect for all our neighbors. My grandmother was a devout Christian and had a love for all people. My grandfather had more of a feeling of intelligent good will toward all, which I share. I do agree with you about love conquering hate or at least that is my hope.

I agree with your comments. Being white, I must add that the racial prejudice I feel is directed at many whites I have known over the years because I don't like trash, whatever the color. I'm reasonably sure that there exists in our society racial hatred, though, and it includes blacks hatred for whites as well as whites hatred for blacks. Racial hatred is not exclusive for either race nor is it practiced only in the South. It has been my experience to have worked and been friends with both blacks and whites and I have never lived outside the South but I have traveled extensively over the US and I am happy to say, most folks just try to get along.

I grew up in the deep, deep south in the 40s and 50s and we had two black women who worked for our family because my parents both worked outside the home. At no time did we ever consider having a separate bathroom for the help. Only one of the women had small children and frequently the children were brought to our house for the day. The women who worked for my parents cooked and they ate after the family did but they ate at the same table or took the cooked food to their home with them when they left at the afternoon. This is the same story for almost every home in our town, very few mothers stayed home since they too had to work to pay the bills. We were not of the upper crust society in "The Help" but most of the book was not representative of the South, as I lived it. I thought the book was shallow but, hey, it is a work of fiction.

I have always believed Obama was elected with fraudulent votes. Without SEIU and ACORN fraud, he would never been elected. I do give the American voters a little more credit than to have fallen for his snake oil persona and lies. And now ACORN is rearing its ugly head again. Look out, America!
