Sorry...you thought the South fought the war between the states just to hold onto slavery. Lincoln showed the shining example of how a leader can consolidate power in the hands of a few and then trample the constitution. It's never been the same and I for one do not see it righting itself without another war.

Thune lost vs. johnson by 300 some odd indian reservation votes, and graciously decided against a state-wide recount.

Then he asked bush to campaign in SD for him (perhaps the only one) and ended up unseating daschel the sitting majority leader.

He is a committed Christian. Even though not forced to, he kept a term-limit vow when he was elected as a Congressman.

Thats all I remember about him from when we lived in Watertown.

don't mean to rain on your parade, but 'state' republicans in ND are lackadasical lapdogs, and low on testosterone. Everything to them must take place in a rational and ordered way, including primaries and seniority.

In order to get from point a to point b, you must move from point a in a given direction.
We can argue the length of the trip, the better route, the direction most traveled, but once Repubs get off their butts and listen to their constituents, they will see that it IS possible to stop this spending.

Once an initial attempt works (little baby steps) who knows where we can ask our representatives to move to? A balanced Budget?....no scratch that. How about a budget at all! (thanks conrad for dropping the ball on that you faux bluedog!)
