When I was over there in '72, somebody handed me a couple of holiday cards with our unit's logo on them and being lonesome for my home state, I addressed one to the State of Oregon at the capitol building in Salem, and sent it. I assume it reached somebody there, but I never heard anything back from anybody. Today, they would probably send a nice reply, as it has become politically correct to support the troops -- even by the more liberal legistlators. I imagine the card I sent went right in the garbage, if it was opened at all. I agree that it is a little too late now. So many of us are already gone.

And before that, when I was growing up in the '50s, it was the Olds & King Department Store. The building was constructed in 1910 as Olds, Worthman & King. In the earliest days, they made home deliveries with horse-drawn buggies. The name was shortened to Olds & King prior to the 1950s. For a short time after it was Olds & King, it was Rhodes Department Store, and then Galleria. For many years (1970s) we found a spot across from the Galleria to watch the Grand Floral Parade with our small children, because the Galleria had accessible public restrooms, and it was easy to take the kids there.

That's what they said in the South before the civil rights movement and MLK. And many still do say that.

As an independent voter, I cast my ballot for Obama in 2008. As a result of this issue (which includes the day-after abortion meds), I plan to attend Mass this weekend for the first time in several years, and return to the faith. I am certain I am not alone. I do not believe abortion should be outlawed, and I do not believe laws should force religious institutions to go against their beliefs. The government should not be involved in any of this. Obama has gone too far this time, and he has become the biggest threat to religious freedom in the history of the USA. I plan to be part of the fight. I do not have an issue with birth control, but I do have an issue with a government disrespecting religion and the 1st amendment. This is a bigger issue than many non-religious could ever imagine. Brace yourselves........

It's doubtful they would care, and hopefully, unlike your overly dramatic friends, would avoid "hysterical laughter." How strange is that? What age group is this? It would also be appropriate to call Spaniards (in Europe) Europeans.
