While I am by no means defending this policy. This is the same policy the Yankees had in the old stadium.
I was sitting by an obnoxious Mets fan at the game. As soon as the ball was popped up, he thrust his hands in the air, turned his back to the field and started taunting everyone. Needless to say, that didn't work out too well for him.
By the way, kudos to Teixeira for running hard all the way!
I got it right away, but then again, I am incredibly sharp. ;)
I was at Citi Field for the second time on Saturday, and I have to say that your assessment is pretty much dead on. I too give the slight edge to Yankee Stadium, but again, the Mets did a very nice job with their park. Although I do believe they will end up lowering (if possible) or moving in the left field wall. While the Yankees may be looking to do just the opposite.
I would not be so quick to assume that this is Damon's last year in pinstripes. If he keeps playing like he is, he will basically force Cashman to bring himback.
Maybe the Yankees should just go to a tiered pricing plan like the Mets use?
I have had the good fortune of eating in both places. I was only in the Legends Lounge once, but the food on that date was at least the equal of what I had experienced during my prior trips to the Audi Club.
If it had not been for all the championships, very few would have been sorry to see the old place go. But, of course, that is a very big "if." Is the new stadium perfect? No. Are changes required? Yes. But, if the Yankees put together a series of championships there, that place will begin to feel special too. Of course, this will not happen over night. I miss the old place a lot, but I like the new place too. In time, I think that for most people, it will begin to feel like home. But hey, I could be wrong.
It's really not that important to me. But hey, if it is for you, keep pressing. The Yankees have already shown that they are willing to make changes if enough people persist. I just don't think it's a big deal, the team has already agreed to give you access to areas where you don't have a ticket. But, like I said, if it's something you care about, keep pushing for change. However, if the Yankees don't change the policy, I don't believe it would be a "bad PR move."
I'm sorry, but I just don't see this as a big deal.
