Exactly! Our sump pumps are in the basement, which only has access from the outside of our house and the door is LOCKED at all times.
You can't trust a 3 year old! They are curious and imaginative, which they should be!!

I have been told first hand that it wasn't a "Holiday Gathering". It was a party and the very young parents realized their child was missing and found her in the "play room"...which included a sump pump.

In Ohio it is required for DUI's over a certain limit and convictions. They call it a "Blow and Go". A friend of mine used to install them professionally. If you don't blow into the machine, or blow a legal limit, then the vehicle will not start. Now, the issue at hand is people who get DUI's are breaking the law so they have no problem in leaving their car run while at the bar or have a child blow into it. Crooks always find a way around everything :-(

I was thinking the same thing. My family is very faithful to our local meat store and farm stands and such. We have no problem driving 20 miles to get our meat from somewhere other than a frozen chain store. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of deals on things that I buy from Walmart and Krogers, but we hit our local families first.
I hope many others do the same.

My family is Law Enforcement and your immediate fears for your family members are the obvious situations, a violent arrest etc. It's the everyday thing that every one of us does that doesn't cross our minds that often. My sincere condolences to the family, friends and department members of this brave man.
